Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Thursday, August 18, 2011

My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You may get the urge to give yourself a mini makeover today, for instance, try a new hairstyle, ditch your glasses or try new ones or iron out your accent to sound more sophisticated. The reason? Rising estrogen is making you focus on how others see you, which has you wanting to make a good impression.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Thanks to high estrogen and testosterone, this is a day of grand gestures, which could be good or could be bad. For instance, it could mean that you thank someone profusely for a favor they did or it could mean you sign up to volunteer many hours to a cause even though you don’t really have the time to spare.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You’re ready to jump on the junk bandwagon as rising progesterone amps up your hunger for super-duper bad-for-you foods and saps your pep, making you happier with gossip shows, reruns and other non-challenging entertainment.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may notice more aches and pains today. Blame goes squarely to plunging estrogen, which drags down your brain’s level of pain-masking endorphins as it descends. If you have an injury or painful condition, like a bad back, migraines or sore knees, try to baby your body today and avoid pushing yourself. And if pain starts to kick in, take whatever pain medication or holistic remedy you use to combat it right away to lessen the chances of it getting out of control.
