My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Today’s hormone horoscope: You’ll probably be sending more texts, making more calls, writing more emails and stopping by more people’s desks or doorways today. The reason? Rising estrogen is making you more outgoing and chatty, so you want to connect with others now and make plans to spend even more time chatting with them in the near future!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone horoscope: You may want to lower your expectations just a bit today when being handed a wrapped gift, when you settle in to watch a TV show or when going out for a big night on the town. High estrogen and testosterone are hoping for something over-the-top since they’re pumping up brain chemicals that make you crave excitement. But, let’s face it, very few things live up to Week 2 kind of crazy expectations. The good news is, if you anticipate that what’s in store will be ho-hum and it does end up being outrageous, you’ll be even happier with the end result!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone horoscope: The red-hot passion you had for your sweetheart or the person you’ve been crushing on during Week 2 suddenly cools. However, it’s not because your cutie did anything wrong. Blame actually goes to rising progesterone, which dampens your  libido, and lower levels of estrogen and testosterone, which make you far less interested in dating and mating. Researchers speculate this lack of lust is your body’s way of keeping a developing fetus safe in case you got pregnant at the end of Week 2 during ovulation (it doesn’t get the memo about whether or not your egg really got fertilized till Week 4). Till then, try not to take the drastic reduction in attraction too seriously. You’ll know for sure whether or not you’re over the person once Week 1 rolls around again since progesterone will be have bottomed out and estrogen and testosterone will be rising and, therefore, fanning the flames of passion once again!

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Today’s hormone horoscope: Take a few moments longer than you normally would on other weeks of your cycle to think about what you’re going to say before you say it (for instance, if you’re going to propose a project to your boss or teacher) and think through a plan of action before you execute it (for example, when hammering a nail). Because of this week’s plunging estrogen and testosterone, you’re not as mentally sharp or coordinated as you were during the first half of your cycle when these hormones were rising. As a result, you may encounter a few verbal stumbles when talking or misjudgments when using a heavy tool. Pausing to consider what you’re going to say and do first is a simple and effective way to overcome this hormonal challenge!
