Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You may notice that your memory gets sharper, it’s easier to think of the right word you want to say and you’re thinking of ideas faster today. Thanks go to rising estrogen and testosterone, which improve brain skills as they climb. And, more good news, these effects get better all the way through the end of Week 2!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Careful with caffeine: High estrogen and testosterone are already amping up your energy. Adding a lot of tea or coffee to the mix can make you over-energized, which can lead to a rise in nervous habits, like nail biting, hair pulling, lip chewing or scratching. Gone overboard on caffeine or need to dampen your high hormone energy? Try sipping chamomile tea, which contains compounds that naturally soothe jangled nerves.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Try not to dismiss someone’s idea, suggestion or advice right off the bat today. Rising progesterone is making you a tad underwhelmed and less easily excited by new proposals even if they’re total game changers, easy to implement or save a bundle of money.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
