My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your cycle?

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: If you’re past the crampy part of your week (and you would be if you follow these proven cramp-busters), you’ll be smiling and laughing more today than last week. Credit goes to a surge of feel-good endorphins triggered by rising estrogen.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Week 3 You is sending you an important message today: Try to avoid scheduling too many activities, projects and social events to fall on the next week of your cycle (Day 14 to Day 22). While high estrogen and testosterone give you the oomph to pile lots on your plate this week, by next week, rising progesterone and lower estrogen and testosterone will sap your energy and make you less interested in socializing.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You may want to purchase a fluffy mattress pillow-top, picture frame, poster or other item to spruce up your home. As progesterone rises this week, it boosts your urge to feather the nest.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may end up hunting around for your keys, forget the name of a neighbor who’s lived next door to you for years or be stumped for facts and figures you knew down pat during the first half of your cycle. The reason for the brain fog? Plunging estrogen and testosterone. As they descend, they bring down your powers of recall, making it difficult to remember the easiest stuff.
