Which week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As your Week 1 goes on, you may start experimenting with your hair, makeup, clothing style or other aspects of your appearance. Why? Rising estrogen is putting you in the mood to have fun with how you look and rising testosterone is making you braver about trying–and showing off–a new you!
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: With high estrogen and testosterone revving your desire to explore and create adventure, you may find it’s difficult to sit at your desk or stay put at home today and will likely be thinking of any reason to go outside, drive or travel, for instance, to run errands, visit a friend or have lunch at a restaurant in another town.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Welcome to what I like to call the “reality check” phase of your monthly cycle. It’s when you lose that super-duper optimism you had during Week 1 and Week 2 of your cycle, when rising estrogen and testosterone made it easy to ignore issues or convince yourself they were could be easily overcome. But, you’re not yet in your premenstrual Week 4, where plunging estrogen and testosterone bring out your inner pessimist, making even small problems seem completely overwhelming. Nope, you’re right here in Week 3, where lower levels of estrogen and testosterone combined with sedating progesterone give you a temporary window through which you can assess relationships, work, school and other issues in a more realistic light. That way, you can know whether it’s time to take action to fix them and figure out what actions would be most appropriate.
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Take a moment to read the Hormone Horoscope for Week 3. I’ll wait…. Now I’d like to explain what happens when you try to tackle an issue in your premenstrual Week 4: Because estrogen and testosterone are dropping like a rock, you’re more apt to see the darker side of things and imagine problems are bigger than they really are. As a result, you may think it’s time to quit your job, dump your mate, kick your roommate to the curb or make another drastic change. Before you do, I encourage you to wait till Week 1 rolls around to see how you’re feeling about the issue once estrogen and testosterone are rising again. You’ll could end up realizing you don’t want to make such a dramatic shift after all.
