Why? Rising estrogen and testosterone are pumping your brain full of feel-good chemicals, and this makes you a tad more zealous in everything you do.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You may notice that you’re remembering words and details more easily, you’re typing more accurately, you’re even seeing, smelling, hearing and tasting more sharply. Credit for all the fine-tuning comes courtesy of rising estrogen and testosterone, which improve your body and brain as they climb!
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: During Week 1 and Week 2 of your cycle, rising estrogen and testosterone had you curious about the world around you. As they reach lower levels this week, your curiosity turns inward. As a result, today you may question why you feel a certain way about an issue, wonder how you can better motivate yourself to reach a goal or study other aspects of your personality a little more closely.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Women are more prone to ruminating than men, research shows. Unlike many guys who have the charming ability to turn their emotions on and off like a light switch, we tend to churn over issues, problems, insults and irritations in our minds till we drive ourselves crazy. I bring this up because, as estrogen nosedives this week, you’ll be more inclined to torture yourself with ruminations about issues big and small. Luckily, there’s a pretty simple way to get out of your own head and stop the revolving-door thought process: distract yourself. Studies shows that going to the movies, shopping, dancing or doing anything else that pretty much stops you from thinking slams the brakes on ruminating so you can let go of the issue and destress.
