My Hormonology Which week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As estrogen and testosterone rise during your Week 1, they make you more impulsive. As a result, you may make snap decisions that have just a minor impact on your life (like dyeing your hair a new color or booking a weekend trip) or have a big impact (like getting a tattoo or adopting a puppy).

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may be tempted to shrug off a cold, headache, back ache, knee sprain or other health woe today as high estrogen and testosterone make you feel like you can power through just about anything. However, it’s still wise to baby your body if you have an ailment so you can avoid having it snowball into a major problem, say, a full-blown migraine or pulled muscle.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Friends who got used to your outrageous antics, rapier wit and unstoppable chatter in your Week 2 may be confused when they find you more taking the safer path, slow with a great comeback and quieter in your Week 3. You can try explaining to them that lower levels of estrogen and testosterone paired with rising progesterone are behind the personality change since this hormonal combination make you put safety first, put a damper on verbal ability and make you less interested in socializing. Or you can take the easier (and much more delicious) way out and tell them the problem is that you’re low on doughnuts and if they bring  you a dozen, you promise to be your perky self once again! It may not work, but, hey, at least it’s free doughnuts.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Try to steer clear of whiny people, irritating activities and annoying events today. Plunging estrogen and testosterone are bringing down levels of feel-good chemicals in your brain, making you more susceptible to “catching” negativity from other people and your environment than during any other week of your cycle.
