Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As your estrogen rises throughout your Week 1, you may find yourself more open to trying a new type of cosmetic, kitchen gadget, photo editing website or other product or tool. Why? The higher this hormone goes, the more it boosts your mood, opens your mind, revs your desire to make improvements and ratchets up your optimism that whatever new thing you try will work out great.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 (or ovulation)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: In Week 2 of your cycle, your strength and stamina reach their peaks thanks to high estrogen and testosterone. So, if you’ve been meaning to pack up a bunch of heavy books, move furniture, try out a new workout routine or do something else that requires a lot of oomph, now’s the time to do it!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Be prepared to be slightly uncomfortable today: Rising progesterone is making you more likely to be constipated, it’s triggering bloat and breast tenderness, it’s sapping your pep and, as you learned in a recent Hormonology Tip, it makes you more sensitive to heat and humidity. Sure, these aren’t anything to shake your pom-poms about, but they’re just minor irritations. And knowing that you’ll be expecting them means you can take measures to lessen their impact, say, by consuming olive oil (a gentle stool softener), reducing water retention and breast pain with dandelion tea (a natural diuretic), pacing yourself to avoid using up your limited store of energy and avoiding over-exerting yourself outdoors when the temperature spikes.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may be more sensitive to something someone says or posts online today, believing it to be an insult or joke at your expense even when the person meant no offense. The problem is that plunging estrogen may be bringing down your mood and outlook, making you prone to dwelling on the negative and more likely to jump to the worst conclusion.
