Week 1

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Dare to start something new today, such as a novel, music album, clothing line, pottery business or whatever it is you love. Week 2 is about big dreams and putting them into action. That’s because you have high estrogen and testosterone energy and optimism egging you on. These cheerleading hormones don’t get any higher than they do in this week, so if you miss your opportunity to harness all that hormonal rah-rah-rah, you’ll have to wait again till next month to do it!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You may feel an unmistakable pull toward cookies, cheese covered French fries, ice cream, potato chips and other high-fat, high-calorie goodies. Blame goes squarely on rising progesterone. This hormone, which starts to rise at the onset of Week 3, is prompting you to stuff your face with as many calories as possible in case you got pregnant during ovulation and are, therefore, eating for two. It won’t get the memo that you don’t have a bun in the oven till Week 4, so the only defense is resisting the urge to splurge or indulging in small doses to satisfy cravings.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
