Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll probably notice a slight boost in pep during the first half of Week 1 thanks to estrogen and testosterone, which start to rise after hitting rock bottom at the end of Week 4. However, don’t expect the energy lift to last; you’ll probably poop out by midday since these hormones are still relatively low. But by the middle of Week 1, you’ll notice that your stamina lasts longer and your energy level may even be a little too much, triggering a racing pulse or a bit of anxiety, especially if you couple these rising hormones with lots of caffeine.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: High estrogen and testosterone are lifting your mood, but that doesn’t mean you won’t lose your cool. Fact is, high estrogen is making you vocal and high testosterone is boosting your confidence and impulsiveness, leading you to say what’s on your mind when provoked.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You may find yourself second-guessing yourself, wondering if you’re on the right track or reconsidering decisions you’ve recently made. The reason? As you transition from your first half of your cycle to your second half, lower levels of estrogen and testosterone bring down self-assurance and make you look inward.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll probably have a bit of trouble getting to the point in conversation today as dwindling estrogen puts a damper on verbal and memory abilities. As a result, you may repeat yourself, touch on many unrelated topics and say a few ums and ahs as you try to remember the word you want to use.
