My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You may be tempted to overload your to-do list today, piling it high with new tasks, half-finished projects and stuff you’ve been meaning to get to for decades. The urge to get so much done comes from rising estrogen and testosterone, which give you a mental and physical push that makes it feel like you can tackle a million things at once. However, if you don’t want to face this long list of to-dos again the next time Week 1 rolls around, you’re better off focusing on just one or two tasks at a time. Otherwise, you could end up scattering your energy and getting nothing completed.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll be flirting with people whether you realize it or not. Blame for your eye-batting ways goes to high estrogen, which pushes you connect with others, and high testosterone, which amps up your sex drive. Just be careful: You could end up showering attention on folks who you really shouldn’t, like your boss, your married neighbor or, yikes, an ex!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You may feel a pang of regret about not spending enough time with family, friends, pets, even your plants and do all you can to make up for it.  Why? As progesterone rises, it brings out your nurturing side, which makes you want to devote time to people, animals and other living things you love.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may notice that you’re hitting the wrong computer keys as you type, you’re strumming the wrong chord on your guitar, you’re not getting anywhere near the garbage can when you throw stuff at it or you buttoned your sweater wrong. The problem? Plunging estrogen takes the shine off your dexterity, so you’re apt to make a few more mistakes with your hands than you would during other weeks of your cycle. So, it may go without saying that you should take extra precautions when dicing onions, cutting sewing patterns and working with other sharp instruments.
