Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Monday, January 3, 2011

My Hormonology

Which week are you on in your cycle?

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll likely be a flurry of planning, scheduling and organizing as rising estrogen amps up your desire to tackle projects and the start of a new year makes you ready to pounce on all your resolutions at once!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: If you’re single and looking, thoughts will turn to love (okay, or lust) today as high testosterone boosts libido, high estrogen has you positively giddy whenever you think about a potential mate and the new year renews your optimism about finding a special someone. Happily hitched? High hormones may prompt you to get out of a relationship rut and change things up a bit!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Friends and family may complain that you’re not as fun and silly as you were last week. They’re just irked that rising progesterone is slowing you down and making you a bit more serious, so you’re less likely to laugh loudly at their jokes, root them on as they play pranks or chime in as they start a juicy gossipfest.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may indulge in your favorite guilty pleasures today, like hours of reality TV, bowls of Doritos or a few mojitos. Blame for your wicked ways goes to plunging estrogen, which makes you more likely to turn to indulgent mood-boosting treats that threaten to totally blow every New Year’s resolution you had.
