My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You’re going to probably take more time to pick out your clothes, accessories, hair and makeup today than you did during Week 4 of your cycle. That’s because rising estrogen is making you more aware of how other people see you, and it’s making it fun to dress up and coordinate a killer outfit.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You may end up stepping uncomfortably close into people’s personal spaces or keep them talking long after they’ve wanted to be let go. The reason? High estrogen and testosterone are making you want to connect, chat, touch and flirt. And in your high-hormone excitement, you may not realize that the other person you’re talking with may not be in a chatty touchy-feely kind of mood.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Progesterone is bringing out your nurturing side. As a result, you may feel like you’re more in tune with other people’s emotions and can pick up on subtle voice or body language cues that reveal their true feelings.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: When I lead Hormonology lectures to women, the first thing I do is ask the ladies to gently pinch the woman sitting next to them. The ones that say “Ouch!” are usually in their Week 4. That’s because plunging estrogen makes you more sensitive to pokes, pinches, scratchy sheets and anything else you wouldn’t notice during the other three weeks of your cycle. So, try to avoid things that might be uncomfortable, such as breaking in new shoes or dental exams, until Week 1 arrives and pain-masking estrogen starts rising again.
