Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Monday, February 4, 2013

Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Once you get past the fatiguing part of your period, you’ll be experiencing an energy boost from rising estrogen and testosterone, which could give you a second wind about a project that you’ve been getting bored with or have been tempted to set aside. You may also find it easier to dream up new strategies and ways to make this stalled venture work!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: High estrogen and testosterone are boosting your optimism to cycle-long highs, which makes you feel luckier than usual. As a result, you may buy a lottery ticket, send a resume to a job opening or take another risk you hope will pay off big!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: If you’ve ever lost track of where you are in your cycle, here’s an easy way to figure it out: If you go from energetic, outgoing, upbeat, social and sexually adventurous to tired, introverted, shy, crabby and a low libido, you’ve officially entered your Week 3. The second half of your cycle is the opposite of the first half. That’s because estrogen and testosterone are on the rise during Weeks 1 & 2 while they’re on the downswing during Weeks 3 & 4. You also have sedating, libido-quashing progesterone to deal with during the second half of your cycle, giving your energy and sex drive a double-whammy. This doesn’t mean it’s all bad news though. While the first half of your cycle is built for fun and adventure, the second half is perfect for recuperating, renewing your energy and pondering your next move.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Be careful of letting your imagination run away with you today. With estrogen and testosterone on the downswing, you may be tempted to think the worst of anything, for instance, that a little red patch on your elbow means you’re having a bad reaction to a medicine, the electric company will shut off your power if you’re a week late with the payment or that a minor mistake at work may cost you your job. Before jumping to conclusions and freaking yourself out, take a deep breath and consult with a pal or family member who can give you an objective opinion.
