Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Monday, December 19, 2011

My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: As estrogen and testosterone rise this week, you’re going to feel lighter, happier and more carefree. However, this doesn’t mean you’re going to feel this way 100% of the time. Truth is, your hormone-inspired good mood is a general trend. But, it can be spoiled by any of the usual mood-crushers, like skipping meals, getting into a fender bender and watching your sweetie put the empty milk carton back in the fridge for the umpteenth time. The good news is that once you’re past these little bumps in the road, rising hormones promise to get you feeling cheery quickly once again.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Your powers of persuasion are stellar today thanks to high estrogen and testosterone that make you think fast on your feet and turn you into an eloquent speaker. This makes it a great day to convince a salesperson to come down on a price, pitch your boss a ground-breaking idea or sweet-talk your honey into treating you to a weekend getaway.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You were super-eloquent last week, but this week is just the opposite. Rising progesterone has you throwing in a few more “ums” and “ahs” than usual, making it hard to remember the exact word you want to say and even making you utter embarrassingly wrong words instead. Have an important meeting or phone call today where you need stellar verbal skills? Take a moment to think about exactly what you’re going to say before you say it. Not only will this help combat progesterone’s verbal problems, research shows that slow talkers who pause actually appear more thoughtful and intelligent than speedier chatters.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: It may feel like someone made the doorways narrower and moved all the furniture one inch to the right. It’s not a sneaky trick. It’s just descending estrogen making a you a bit less coordinated. Which means you should definitely think twice today before practicing your cheerleading pyramids and fire baton juggling.
