My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your cycle?

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Week 1 of your cycle is traditionally a time of new beginnings. That’s because rising estrogen and testosterone boost energy, sharpen brain skills and amp up motivation. And these wonderful effects get stronger all the way through the end of Week 2. This makes it a perfect time to do research, make phone calls, get supplies and do anything else that can help you launch a new project.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You may find that it’s difficult to focus on one task and that you’re easily distracted as high estrogen and testosterone rev up your nervous energy. You can use this to your advantage by taking bits and pieces of information from a website, conversation or Facebook post and using it to help with other tasks you’re working on.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: In Week 2, you enjoyed being the center of attention. In Week 3, you prefer to take a behind-the-scenes role as rising progesterone makes you a tad less comfortable in social situations and less confident about taking risks, such as introducing yourself to someone new or attending an event.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may be tempted to take something someone says or does a bit too seriously today. That’s because plunging estrogen is depleting your brain of feel-good endorphins and other chemicals that boost your sense of humor.
