Which week are you on in your cycle?
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormone-cast: Jokes, sit-coms and watching someone trip over their own feet are funnier to you today and all through Week 2 as rising estrogen amps up brain chemicals that fire up your sense of humor.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone-cast: You may be interested in upgrading your appearance today, for instance, with tooth whitening strips, a new hairdo or a killer outfit. Why? High estrogen has you more focused on how attractive you look to others.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone-cast: You may find it harder to brainstorm ideas, continue the momentum of a project you’ve been working on or get inspired to start a new one. That’s because rising progesterone is making your energy drag and lower levels of estrogen and testosterone are taking the shine off your brain skills. Luckily, research shows there’s an easy way to generate motivation once again: focus on why you started or need to start a task and/or think of the way it helps you or other people, like your family, friends or customers.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormone-cast: Be careful of casting a negative light where none exists. Plunging estrogen and testosterone are lowering brain chemicals responsible for a sunny, optimistic view. As a result, you may interpret someone’s glance, a meeting change or email as being insulting to you personally when it really isn’t. Before jumping to conclusions and taking action, get another opinion from a friend or family member.
