My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Today’s hormone horoscope: You’ll probably notice that compared to last week, your memory is sharper, you’re thinking faster on your feet and you’re more eloquent. These brain benefits are courtesy of rising estrogen and testosterone, which continue to sharpen brain and verbal skills all the way through the end of Week 2!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormone horoscope: High testosterone is making you feel more independent than during any other week of your cycle. As a result, it won’t be as important for you to team up to get something done, for instance, you’ll be less likely to wait for friends to find free time to accompany you to a movie or event since you’re just as happy to go alone and you won’t need to hunt around for a co-worker or fellow student to launch a project because you’ll be just as happy to do it on your own.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormone horoscope: You may hear a few, “Are you okay?”s today from folks who wonder why you’re so somber. The problem is that they got used to seeing you in your Week 2 high-energy phase when you were more animated and more likely to smile. Now that it’s Week 3, rising progesterone, a sedating hormone, is making you quieter and less emotive, which makes it more difficult for others to read your emotions.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Today’s hormone horoscope: A project you were so sure about earlier in your cycle may not feel like it’s clicking today. Why? During the first half of your cycle, rising estrogen triggered a flood of feel-good brain chemicals that kept your optimism high. Now that estrogen is plunging, those feel-good brain chemicals plunge, too, so you see problems you tried to ignore during those high estrogen days. But, you don’t have to give up the project altogether. Instead, try to use this “reality check” phase to address and fix these issues so that the project can be as successful as you hoped.
