Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You’ll probably notice that you’re remembering words, facts and phone numbers more easily today than you did during the second half of your cycle. That’s because estrogen and testosterone are on the rise, and these hormones help sharpen your memory.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: You’re gonna be standing up straighter, wearing more colorful clothes, daring to sing out loud and/or proposing great ideas to higher-ups. Credit for the boost in boldness goes to high estrogen and testosterone, which increase confidence as they rise.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You may notice more constipation, burping, gas and other tummy woes today. Blame goes to rising progesterone, which slows down digestion. I like to keep things moving along with  teaspoon of olive oil on whole grain bread, fiber-rich cereal and lots of water. I also sip mint tea, which releases trapped air and eases nausea.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may have a lot more inner dialogue going on in your head today. Why? As estrogen and testosterone plunge, they’re making you more critical about the people and events around you, so you’ve got a lot to talk to yourself about!
