My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthy cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: You may be exasperating friends who can’t understand why you suddenly love your partner / job / car / home / neighbor / frenemy today when just a week ago during your Week 4, you were making plans to ditch them. The reason for your waffling? Rising estrogen and testosterone are pumping up your optimism and euphoria, making you overlook the very faults that had you complaining recently!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Guard your heart today. You may be convinced that you’re head-over-heels in love with a first date, an old flame or someone who is not your current partner, resulting in you stalking them on Facebook, riding past their house like a million times and spending hours picturing your future life together. Truth? High estrogen may just be playing mind-games with you and the love you feel may not be as real as you think. That’s because, as this hormone peaks it puts your brain on automatic mate-seeker, pushing you toward someone newer, more exciting and physically attractive. Luckily, there’s a super-easy way to find out if what you’re feeling really is true love or just estrogen lust before you make any drastic moves: Simply double-check how you feel about this person in Week 3 of your cycle. If it’s true love, the feelings you have will be just as strong even as estrogen plunges next week. If it’s simple hormone-fueled lust, chances are, your feelings will fade dramatically.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: You might avoid saying what you mean or sticking up for yourself today. That’s because, as progesterone rises, it saps your energy and momentum, so you feel less like making a stink just to make a point.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: Making a decision will likely be more difficult today as plunging estrogen makes you doubt whether you’re making the right choice. And while that can be annoying for some (the customer behind you at Dunkin Donuts, for example), it’s not such a bad thing when considering big or important decisions that you’re better off pondering a little longer, such as whether to buy a house, move to a new city, get married or try bangs.
