Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Friday, October 12, 2012

My Hormonology Which week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As Week 1 goes on, you’ll likely notice you’re smiling more, standing up straighter and speaking up more frequently in conversation. That’s because estrogen and testosterone are rising and the higher they climb, the more upbeat, confident and chatty you become!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Studies show that this is the week of your cycle when you’re most likely to stray from your mate, or at least do a little flirting and fantasizing. Why? High testosterone is amping up your sex drive to record levels and high estrogen is putting you on the lookout for a sexual partner who’s strong, healthy and powerful.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may not feel like you look your best today. The problem? Rising progesterone is triggering bloat, making you feel a little heavier than usual. And lower levels of estrogen and testosterone are bringing down your self-confidence. Truth? You probably don’t look nearly as bloated as you think you do and you would still look smashing in any of your favorite outfits. So, when you have self-doubt, try to remember it’s just your hormones talking. And sometimes, they’re not worth listening to.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may get irritated when someone breaks one of your personal rules, for instance, when a co-worker interrupts you while you’re talking, a fellow shopper chats loudly on a cell phone next to you while you’re waiting in line or a neighbor doesn’t bother to say hello when passing you. The problem is plunging estrogen, which makes you a bit less patient with others.
