Week 1
First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: Chances are, you are going to want to get out of the house and be social this weekend as rising estrogen and testosterone put you in the mood to have fun and shmooze. So, check events calendars, libraries, the newspaper and music listings for fairs, shows and classes near you. Or peruse Craigslist, Freecycle and other giveaway websites for free or cheap items you can pick up, then grab a pal and make a fun scavenger hunt out of it!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: Going shopping this weekend? If so, bring a friend. A really honest one. High estrogen and testosterone are boosting your confidence about your appearance, which can make you a touch unrealistic about how great you look in that pleather skirt, jean leggings or doughnut-sized hoop earrings. No friends available? Hold onto receipts, then take a second look in the mirror once Week 3 rolls around and plunging estrogen helps you see things a bit more realistically to make sure what you bought really is as flattering as you thought it was in the store.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Sedating progesterone is going to be slowing you down, which is a good thing since it makes it easier to focus on projects that involve fine detail, like painting, sewing or editing pages of your novel. This hormone is also making you quieter than in past weeks. So, hang around pals who won’t take your silent moments personally.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: When you make plans this weekend, try to prepare ahead of time so they don’t fall through. Plunging estrogen can make you a bit cranky or disappointed when things don’t go as you expect. So, buy movie tickets ahead of time, make a restaurant reservation even if you don’t think you’ll need one and check store hours so you’re not surprised.
