My HormonologyWhich week are you on
in your monthly cycle?
Find out what it reveals about
what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As estrogen and testosterone rise this week, you’re going to feel lighter, happier and more carefree. However, this doesn’t mean you’re going to feel this way 100% of the time. Truth is, your hormone-inspired good mood is a general trend. But, it can be spoiled by any of the usual mood-crushers, like skipping meals, getting into a fender bender and watching your sweetie put the empty milk carton back in the fridge for the umpteenth time. The good news is that once you’re past these little bumps in the road, rising hormones promise to get you feeling cheery quickly once again!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: A lot of folks assume that the only week women lose their temper is during Week 4, the premenstrual week. But, truth is, you’ve got a tiger crouched and ready to spring during Week 2 as well. That’s because when estrogen gets as high as it does on these days, it amps up your emotional response to stress and makes you more vocal. Meanwhile, testosterone is making you feel bolder and a lot less concerned about what people think of you. The combination of these hormonal effects should be enough for anyone to think twice about cutting you off in traffic, stealing your lunch out of the fridge or grabbing the last on-sale bikini that you were clearly reaching for. The resulting outburst could be frightening.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Wave buh-bye to your libido today. Rising progesterone is putting the kibosh on that bit of fun. And, if you do happen to feel the rare stirrings from down below, don’t count on an easy or fulfilling climax; progesterone is making it more difficult to reach orgasm and the orgasms you do reach are totally ho-hum compared to those reached in other weeks of your cycle. The good news? Cuddling, massage and foreplay all still feel wonderful and boost feel-good brain chemicals that lift mood and make you feel more connected to your partner.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Plunging estrogen is making you a tad more judgmental today; you may be picky about what people are wearing, what they’re saying and what they’re doing. And here’s a funny little fact: A new study in the journal Psychological Science reveals that drinking something bitter, like coffee or dark beer, actually makes you even more judgmental! To avoid annoying folks around you, you may want to opt for sweet beverages today instead.
