Today’s Daily Hormone Horoscope: Friday, January 25, 2013

Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As your Week 1 goes on and you get past the tiring part of your period, you’ll probably find yourself recommending a brand, product, restaurant or something else you absolutely love to friends, family, co-workers and even strangers you bump into in the store. Why? As estrogen rises, it makes you feel even better about your favorites, which makes you want to convince others to try it, too.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may struggle with a bit of restlessness today. That’s because high estrogen and testosterone make you easily bored, so the idea of staying indoors or doing the same old thing is positively dreadful! Treat your high-hormoned self to some fun by signing up for a new class, taking off on an impromptu trip or dressing up and hitting the town tonight!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Today’s rising progesterone makes you less eloquent than you’ve been in the past two weeks. The result: You may wrack your brain while searching for a word you want to say but can’t remember, include a lot of “uhs” and “ums” in between your words as you speak or trip over your tongue trying to spit out the right phrase. Luckily, there’s an easy way counter progesterone’s inarticulating effect: Slow down as you speak and think about what you want to say before you say it. Not only will you be more likely to choose the correct words and phrases, research shows that folks who speak slowly and pause actually appear smarter than their faster-paced peers.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Here’s one bonus to premenstrual Week 4’s plunging estrogen: It helps you tap into the creative, emotional side of your brain. So, if you’re looking to think up out-of-the-box ideas for a new business, novel or other big endeavor, take some time to work on it today and you may surprise yourself with what you dream up! One caveat (and isn’t there always one?): Remind yourself not to judge the ideas you come up with. Plunging estrogen saps your self-confidence, so you may believe an amazing plan can’t possibly work when it really can!
