First day of period to Day 7
Today’s hormonescope: As estrogen rises today, it makes you open to trying new ways of doing things, for instance, you might download a different web browser, download an app from your bank that helps you track your spending while on the go, update an old recipe to make it healthier or rearrange your furniture to make the room more comfortable.
Day 8 to Day 13
Today’s hormonescope: If you’ve already friended or subscribed to my personal Facebook page (facebook.com/mylifeinhormonology), then you probably know I tracked down someone who left a mean comment on yesterday’s Hormone Horoscope and confronted them. I bring this up because I’m in Week 2 and like me, you, too, won’t take being insulted, cut off, interrupted or let down without a fight. That’s because high estrogen and testosterone are pumping up your self-worth, making you feel like you deserve better, and they’re amping up your confidence, making you bolder about going toe-to-toe with people who’ve annoyed you. Even better, because these high hormones are also sharpening your verbal and brain skills, you’ll know exactly what to say to make them apologize…or at least make them wish they had.
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Today’s hormonescope: Friends and family may have to wait longer to get a response from you about their phone call, text message or email. Rising progesterone is making you more sedate and less chatty than you were in Week 2 of your cycle when you were more likely to respond to inquiries in an instant.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Today’s hormonescope: You may blame stubbed toes, dropped dishes, an irritating conversation with a coworker, a road full of more annoying drivers than ever and other problems on the bad luck that superstitious folks believe come on Friday the 13th. However, the cause is more likely descending estrogen. As this hormone plunges, it makes you more prone to seeing the negative aspects of your day. Try to notice some of the good stuff (maybe the sun is out, your favorite latte was made perfectly by the barista or you ran across an unexpected sale) and you may find that the day suddenly isn’t so full of bad luck after all.
