My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may notice that, even with menstrual cramping or period-related fatigue, you’re cracking more jokes and laughing more at other folks’ humorous tales. You can thank rising estrogen for your sense of humor. As this hormone climbs, it prompts the brain to churn out more feel-good chemicals that make you funnier and have you enjoying a good laugh!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You’ll notice it’s easier to absorb new information, follow instructions and remember details today. Credit goes to high estrogen and testosterone, which boost brain function as they climb!

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Unlike Week 2 gals, you may need to work harder at absorbing new information, re-read instructions to fully understand them and write down details so you don’t forget them. That’s because brain function tends to decline just a tad due to a hormonal combination of lower estrogen and testosterone coupled with rising sedating progesterone.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Skip the tight jeans that pinch your tummy, hold off breaking in new shoes, reschedule dentist appointments if you can and avoid other potential pain-inducers. Plunging estrogen makes you more sensitive to discomfort during your premenstrual Week 4 so they’ll hurt more this week than during any other week of your cycle!
