Estrogen and testosterone rise

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may feel like more great opportunities and good fortune are coming your way today. And you have your hormones to thank! As estrogen and testosterone rise, they make you more open to new experiences and meeting new people—both of which have been shown to increase your chances of attracting (and jumping on) lucky breaks.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 13
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Significant others, coworkers, friends and family members may get a bit irritated by you today. Blame goes to the way rising estrogen and testosterone put you in a go-get-it kind of mood, making you come up with ideas for projects not only for yourself, but for pretty much anyone within a 5-mile radius. Try to remember that not everyone is in the same life-improvement mood as you and when they turn down your offer to help them find a date/get a job/come up with an award-winning recipe for an upcoming cupcake contest, they probably really mean it.

Week 3
Day 14 (or ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then rise again

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Keep healthy snacks (such as granola bars, low-fat string cheese and yogurt) close by. This week’s rising progesterone is making you hungrier than during any other week of your cycle. Get caught without something to nosh on and your mood could spiral down fast, making you tired, irritable and blue. Eat something filling and nutritious at the first sign of hunger pangs and you’ll dodge that bad mood spiral.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of your cycle
Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone plunge

Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Woe to the smarmy salesperson, backstabbing coworker or sneaky frenemy who tries to pull one over on you today. Plunging estrogen makes you a bit pessimistic, so you’re more suspicious of people and their intentions, making you less likely to be duped or fall prey to a scam. But, dangerous people aren’t the only hazard you’re better at pinpointing this week of your cycle: A recent study out of Japan’s Kyoto University Primate Institute reveals you’re also spotting snakes faster! As the researchers explain it, you have more anxiety during your premenstrual phase, which is a good thing since it puts you on high alert so you’re more watchful about things that can harm you!
