
16 May The weeks of your cycle when you’re a “mind reader”
If you think someone looks glum, stressed, fearful or is hiding a big secret, take a look at your menstrual calendar. If you’re in Week 1 or Week 2 of your cycle, chances are, your hunch about what the person is feeling is spot-on. According to research in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, you’re far better at picking up subtle cues about someone’s emotional state during the first half of your cycle thanks to rising estrogen, which makes a certain emotion-processing part of the brain–the amygdala–function better.
