There are weeks in your cycle that are perfect for cleaning out a moldy fridge, fishing the knot of hair glop out of your shower drain or watching a gory movie.
Week 3 of your cycle (which starts right after ovulation in the middle of your cycle) probably isn’t one of them.
According to a 2010 study in the journal Hormones and Behavior, rising progesterone during your Week 3 makes you more easily disgusted by things you see or smell, which can make your stomach churn.
Researchers theorize this increased sensitivity to being grossed out helps you steer clear of potential threats in case you got pregnant during ovulation at the end of your Week 2 and now need to be extra-cautious.
Your body won’t get the memo that you’re not preggers till the start of your premenstrual Week 4 when it then triggers a drop in progesterone. Till then, I’d recommend putting off doing anything that could potentially make you want to hurl till Week 3 is over.
