12 Sep Are you wearing “hormone goggles”?
You know that silly phrase “beer goggles”, which refers to how alcohol tend to make folks around you appear better-looking than they really are?
While it’s still up for debate whether or not alcohol really does have this effect, researchers have discovered that your hormones actually do make you see potential partners as more attractive on certain days.
Specifically, you’re apt to consider a romantic interest’s looks as more appealing during your Week 1 and Week 2 (the first half of your cycle starting with the onset of menstruation) than you would if you met the same person during your Week 3 or Week 4, according to a study out of the University of Wroclaw in Poland.
The researchers theorize that this “hormone goggle” effect may be one of the many ways your body pushes you to pair up with a cutie in time for ovulation at the end of Week 2.
