Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Your Week 1 may start off with you feeling a bit ho-hum due to aches and fatigue from menstruation. However, once that passes and your estrogen rises to higher levels, you’re going to notice that your passion for people, activities and work rises with it. That’s because this hormone boosts brain chemicals that get you more easily excited and engaged, so everything seems a bit more interesting than before!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Here’s your chance to get big, physically-demanding projects done, Week 2 gal! For instance, have a garage to de-clutter? Been meaning to try a rigorous new workout? Dream of building your own mini-house? Tackle it now! With estrogen and testosterone sky-high, you’re going to have more get-up-and-go now than during any other week of your cycle. Not feeling the energy rush? Then take it as a red flag that something’s out of whack, for instance, you may be under a lot of stress, a medication may be sapping your pep or you may not be getting enough vitamins and minerals from your diet. Once you pinpoint and fix the problem, trust me, you’ll be enjoying that high-hormone oomph once again!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Heads up, Week 3 gal: Big, physically-exerting projects you were able to do in your Week 2–like cleaning the house, going for a super-long run or hand-carving your own canoe–are going to tire you out a lot faster today. That’s because the combination of lower levels of estrogen and testosterone with rising progesterone is sapping the pep and endurance you had while also making you a tad sleepy. So, try to pace yourself unless you want to end up faceplanting straight into an unexpected nap.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Your challenge today is to avoid getting distracted, Week 4 gal. With estrogen plummeting, your powers of concentration can go south with it. My advice? Boost motivation to stick with a project by promising yourself a PMS-busting treat for a certain amount of work you complete, say, eating an indulgent snack, watching your favorite TV show or taking a long, relaxing bubble bath. You’ll tick more tasks off your to-do list while also keeping a negative premenstrual mood at bay!
