HORMONE HOROSCOPE: Weekend of August 24 & 25, 2013

Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: During the first half of your Week 1 when rising estrogen is still fairly low, you may feel like staying close to home, sticking to favorite foods, TV shows and friends and not experimenting with anything new. However, if this is the second half of your Week 1, you’re apt to notice a definite change of heart as higher levels of estrogen make you more social, daring and interested in new experiences.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: You may feel like recommending a brand, product, restaurant or something else you absolutely love to someone today. As your body’s level of estrogen climbs higher and higher, it makes you feel even better about your favorites, which makes you want to convince others to try them, too. You may also spontaneously compliment friends and strangers on their choice of scarf, hat, shoes or something else they’re wearing thanks to high estrogen, which is boosting your mood and giving you the urge to spread the good feelings to others.

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Pondering progesterone may make you wonder if the dreams and hopes you’ve had for weeks, months or years will ever come to fruition. That’s because as this hormone rises and optimism-boosting estrogen dips to lower levels, you’re more reflective and not as hopeful as you were in your Week 1 and Week 2. Avoid letting this launch a downward spiral where you convince yourself the project you’ve been working toward won’t ever succeed and instead use this reality-check phase to do research to see if you’re using the best strategy or there are better ways of going about getting what you want.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: As estrogen nosedives, it makes you more prone to ruminating. As a result, memories of old grudges might pop up, making you feel like getting back at someone who wronged you, for instance, you may write a negative online review of a business, send an email to a coworker demanding an apology or snoop on an ex-friend on Facebook in the hopes of finding evidence that they’re worse off without you.
