HORMONE HOROSCOPE: Wednesday, September 4, 2013

Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As your Week 1 goes on and you get past the achy, fatiguing part of your period, energy-boosting and project-launching rising estrogen may inspire you to come up with a new system for doing something that saves time, makes your life easier or simply makes a task more fun. You may even come up with a brand-new invention. And good news if you do: You may be able to sell it on Quirky.com and make a bundle!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Heads up, Week 2 gal: You may be tempted to go waaaay overboard on food, alcohol, flirting, shopping. Basically, anything that’s fun and indulgent. But, who can blame you? High estrogen and testosterone are triggering bigger bursts of feel-good brain chemicals whenever you do an activity you enjoy, which makes you want to keep going and going!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: If you’re headed someplace where you need to impress someone today–say, a blind date or big meeting–remind yourself to perk up your energy and smile more. Rising progesterone is a sedating hormone that makes you a bit quiet and less emotive, which other folks can easily mistake for disinterest or boredom.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Be on the alert: Allergies, eczema, IBS and other chronic nagging health problems can worsen today due to plunging estrogen. So, either take precautions to avoid piling on other triggers or have remedies at hand to combat these problems as they arise.
