But, rising estrogen will help you get past these and other offenses faster during this week (and all of Week 2) and less likely to ruminate about them like you would in Week 3 or Week 4.

Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Your challenge today is to avoid the “over-promise”, like the super-optimistic yet likely unrealistic agreement you make to someone to do a huge project that’s far too challenging, the offer to volunteer your time to an organization even though your schedule is already jam-packed or the generous plan to buy someone an expensive item you really can’t afford. The problem is that high estrogen and testosterone are pumping up feel-good brain chemicals that make you truly believe you can fulfill this over-promise. That’s because they’re making you prone to seeing only the positives–how good the person will feel if you do it and how good that will make you feel–rather than the negatives–which would be all the effort, time and money it would actually take on your part to make it happen.
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Thoughts of candy, French fries, pizza and other yummy snacks are likely going to pop up quite regularly throughout the day. That’s because rising progesterone is boosting cravings for fatty, salty, sweet and carb-rich foods. Researchers speculate it’s because your body wants you to eat calorie-dense meals in case you got pregnant during ovulation and you need to start eating for two. (Your body won’t get the memo that you didn’t get pregnant till the start of your Week 4.) If you’re watching your weight and don’t want to give in to progesterone-fueled cravings, try taking a 10-minute walk. Research shows that a quick stroll nixes strong urges for food by distracting you and prompting the release of feel-good endorphins.
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Today a project, idea or person you were pursuing during in Week 1 and Week 2 of your cycle may not feel like the right goal for you. Why? During the first half of your cycle, rising estrogen prompted your brain to produce more feel-good chemicals, which kept your optimism high. Now as estrogen plunges and it takes those optimism-triggering brain chemicals with them, you may see problems with your plan that you tried to ignore during those higher-hormoned days.
