My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may find it difficult to stick to boring hum-drum tasks prefer instead to shop online, chat with a pal, go out for a bite to eat or do practically anything other than the work you need to get done. That’s rising estrogen’s influence. As the level of this hormone climbs higher and higher, it pushes you to have fun, fun, fun! So, what can you do stay on track? Promise yourself something enjoyable for every X amount of work you get completed, for instance, you can shop online once you’ve finished three pages of a report. That way, you fulfill your hormone-fueled desire for fun while also motivating yourself to power through your to-dos!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may get frustrated when having to wait today, for instance, waiting for your car to get cleaned at the car wash, waiting for the line to move at the supermarket or waiting for your co-worker to finish spitting out her riveting story about her brother buying a new car stereo. But, who can blame you? High estrogen and testosterone are revving your physical and mental energy, so you want to get through tasks faster and move on to the thousand other things you’d like to tackle today!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: It could be harder for you to get started on work, school or home projects today. That’s due to lower levels of estrogen and testosterone combined with rising progesterone–a hormone combination that’s slowing you down and sapping your physical and mental oomph. Luckily, studies show that tackling your to-do list even when your energy is at a low point is easy: Simply start with one teeny, tiny task–a phone call, Internet research, a text message to a client. Researchers found that once you get the ball rolling, you tend to continue moving forward.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may have a real Princess and the Pea situation going on today where you’re slightly uncomfortable no matter what you do. For instance, you may turn up the air conditioning because you’re hot, then feel too cold. You may put a pillow on your chair because it’s too hard, then find the pillow is too soft. The problem is that plunging estrogen can make you a bit more physically sensitive, making it difficult to get your environment just right.
