My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: If you’re bothered by cramps in the beginning of your Week 1, you may have a bit of restless sleep as pain keeps you awake. However, if you’re ache-free, chances are, you’re getting longer, deeper sleep day by day thanks to rising estrogen, which lifts levels of sleep-regulating serotonin in the brain.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may end up dominating a conversation and hogging the spotlight today. But, who can blame you? High estrogen is ratcheting up your urge to talk talk talk! And high testosterone is making you confident about your opinions so you’re more likely to share them regardless of what others think of them!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: In Week 2, you were putting more time into your outfit, hair, makeup and/or other aspects of your appearance because you were happy being the center of attention. In your Week 3, the desire to blend into the background and be physically comfortable has you preferring more low-key clothes, hair and makeup that match your more relaxed attitude.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You could end up getting the urge to cancel plans you had for dinner, drinks or other social events and prefer to stay home or do something quiet and comforting instead. That’s because as estrogen plunges, it’s making you less interested in connecting with folks, it’s prone to dinging your self-confidence in your appearance and it’s bringing down your energy. Plus, it’s making you more easily annoyed by crowds, noise, smells and other problems you’re bound to encounter in the outside world.
