Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises

Credit for your upbeat attitude goes to rising estrogen, which creates certain changes in the brain that make you more likely to be optimistic and resilient–traits you want others to enjoy, too!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Your feelings may be unexpected stirred by a mysterious new love interest, an unusual activity or a secret about your family or someone you know that you absolutely have to find out more about. Why? As estrogen reaches its cycle-long highs, it makes you more easily excited, adventurous and curious–a combination that can turn a minor interest into a major one!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You could get a little frustrated with your brain today. That’s because in your Week 2, high estrogen and testosterone had you thinking fast on your feet and they were pushing your memory and verbal abilities into superpowers territory. This week, things have changed. Lower levels of these hormones combined with sedating progesterone are making you think a tad slower and they’re bringing down your memory and verbal skills a notch or two. Oh, this doesn’t mean you’ll be mumbling nonsense through the halls and forgetting where you keep the milk. But, you will notice you make a few more brain blunders and that it takes just a bit more effort to say or do things exactly right.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You could feel a bit itchier today or be bothered by eye irritation. The reason? As estrogen levels plummet in your premenstrual Week 4, it reduces your body’s production of moisture. So, if you’re especially sensitive, take extra precautions to avoid discomfort, such as using a moisturizing lotion or moisturizing eye drops.
