HORMONE HOROSCOPE: Tuesday, August 6, 2013

Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. The Hormone Horoscope is a nifty little way of dispensing this information daily. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Once you’re over the energy-sapping hump of your period, you’re more fun to be around. Thanks goes to rising estrogen, which brings out your humorous side and makes you enjoy chatting, playing jokes and having a good time!

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: At some point today, you may look in the mirror and think, “Not half bad!” Even if your hair is due for a trim, you’re wearing your laundry-day clothes or you’ve got orange Cheetos dust all over your mouth, you may think you’ve still got it going on. You can thank high estrogen and testosterone for your high self-esteem. As these hormones climb, they make you more secure in your appearance.

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may get the urge to donate more time or money to worthwhile causes, such as hunger relief, an animal welfare group, political organization or a children’s charity. Why? As progesterone rises, it brings out your nurturing instincts, making you more sensitive to the pain of others.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Try to keep criticisms to a minimum. Due to plunging estrogen, which makes you more pessimistic than you were during the first half of your cycle, you’re more prone to seeing the negative side of things. Unfortunately, the more you complain about people, places and experiences, the lower your mood can go. By looking for the silver lining, not only will you enjoy whatever you’re doing more, you’ll also rev good feelings!
