My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Don’t waste time, Week 1 gal! As estrogen and testosterone rise in your Week 1 and Week 2, they’re boosting your energy, confidence and motivation, making any task easier. So, harness this hormonal energy now to check things off your to-do list. That way, you can sit back and relax once Week 3’s sedating progesterone kicks in, making vegging on the couch seem too irresistible to pass up.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: If you have to come up with an idea today–for instance, how to find a job, what new recipe to make or which Halloween costume to wear this year–chances are, you’re going to go big! For example, you may buy an ad on Facebook targeting only the companies you want to work for, you may try your hand at whipping up a three-tiered cake or you may opt to make a costume that’s so clever, you’re sure to win any costume contest you enter. What’s going on? High estrogen and testosterone are making you super-confident, overly-optimistic and easily excitable, making big ideas far more enticing and feel like they’re totally doable!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Careful, Week 3 gal: This is the phase of your cycle when doubts about your appearance or skills can start to creep in. That’s because lower levels of estrogen and testosterone are taking away the super-confidence you had in your Week 2 while rising progesterone can make you feel bloaty and mentally foggy. If you start to experience self-doubts, just remember that any physical or mental changes are likely noticeable only by you and that others still see you as the radiant, capable woman you’ve always been.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Ever see those paparazzi shots when they catch celebrities without their makeup or when they’re in sweatpants or pajama bottoms. Well, chances are, if there were shutterbugs hiding in your bushes today, they’d find you in your not-so-glamorous state, too. But, who can blame you? With estrogen levels dropping like a rock, you simply don’t have the energy to get dolled up. Luckily, this same hormonal plunge is giving you an “I don’t care” attitude about who happens sees you without mascara.
