My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: As your Week 1 goes on, you may get the urge to post photos of yourself or family on social networking sites or call pals to share details of your vacation, events you’ve attended or other fun activities. That’s rising estrogen’s influence. This hormone is revving your mood while also pushing you to connect socially with others, so you enjoy sharing positive news and stories.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: When a pal comes to you with a problem, you may get the urge to tell them it’s not as bad as it seems or to pull themselves up by their bootstraps when what they really want is a little sympathy. The problem is that high estrogen is putting you in a more hopeful, self-reliant mindset today and you may forget that friends who aren’t in their Week 2 aren’t feeling as strong and optimistic as you do.

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: Pace yourself, Week 3 gal! You’re prone to getting tuckered out faster this week of your cycle due to the energy-sapping combination of rising progesterone and lower levels of estrogen and testosterone. So, the same activities you did effortlessly in your Week 2–like shopping, running errands and working out–are going to use up your pep more quickly in this one.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
This weekend’s Hormone Horoscope: When doing fine-motor tasks–like decorating cupcakes, painting wall trim or putting together toothpick houses–keep in mind that plunging estrogen can make you a bit klutzy by reducing your dexterity. So, take extra precautions to get things just right–for instance, by taking more time to steady your hand or applying painter’s tape–and try not to beat yourself up about goofs since most can be easily corrected.
