Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises

As a result, you may avoid taking risks because you worry the outcome wouldn’t be in your favor. However, once you reach the middle of your Week 1, things take a turn: A higher level of estrogen boosts your mood and optimism, making you feel that you have a good chance at winning. So, you may play the lottery, buy a raffle ticket or take another small risk that could possibly pay off.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may be surprised by the funny jokes that come out of your mouth today. Credit for your ability to come up with quick quips goes to high estrogen, which makes you think faster on your feet while boosting your mood–a combination that can have you making folks roll in the aisles with laughter!

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You’re less likely to leave your comfort zone during your Week 3 as lower levels of estrogen combined with rising progesterone push you to play it safe and stick to what you know. Thing is, sometimes, trying something new can lead to a great outcome or be exactly what a situation needs, for instance, if someone offers you tickets to a once-in-a-lifetime sports game, you’d kick yourself for not going even though you’re not in the mood to deal with crowds or noise. Or if a project is stalled and someone suggests a way-out-there idea that just might work, it could be worth pursuing. So, when needed, try to overcome the hormone-fueled urge to say “no” when perhaps it could be better to ask “why not”?

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may have difficulty getting to the point of a story or explaining what you’re thinking. Blame goes to plunging estrogen, which can make you a bit foggy-headed and easily distracted, which can prompt you to take the scenic route while talking.
