My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As your Week 1 goes on, you may get a bit more touchy-feely and close in on other people’s personal space. That’s rising estrogen’s influence. As this hormone climbs, it’s like it’s literally pushing you into other people as it urges you to connect with others while also making you more comfortable getting physically close.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Careful of letting nervous habits getting out of hand today. High estrogen can amp up energy levels to a point that causes antsiness, prompting you to bite your nails, tug your hair, chew the inside of your cheek, scratch mosquito bites till you break skin or do other types of nervous behaviors that can have negative consequences.

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may get a bit sweatier today when exercising or doing physically-demanding tasks, especially when it’s hot out. The reason? As progesterone rises in this phase of your cycle, it raises your body’s core temperature slightly, making you more prone to perspiring.

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may be bothered by dryness today–such as dry eyes, chapped lips, flaking skin or low lubrication. That’s a side effect of plunging estrogen. As the level of this hormone dips, it reduces the body’s ability to produce moisture. So, be sure to drink plenty of water (about six to eight cups throughout the day) to help your body pump up its moisture level and stock up on eye drops, lip balm, moisturizing lotion or personal lubrication if you need it.
