Hormonology uses hundreds of scientific studies to show you how your hormones impact you in virtually every way every day of your monthly cycle. To get started, find the week you’re on in your monthly cycle (you can use this easy guide if you’re not sure), then read your Hormone Horoscope for today!

My HormonologyWhich week are you on in your monthly cycle? Find out what it reveals about what your day has in store:

Week 1
Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7
Estrogen rises
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: As your Week 1 goes on, you may see the silver lining in problems or think that something happened for a reason even if you’re not sure yet what it is. Credit for the optimism goes to rising estrogen, which rosies up your view of the world and has you more likely to focus on the positive side of things.

Week 2
Day 8 to Day 14 or ovulation (here’s how to tell when you’re ovulating)
Estrogen and testosterone rise till they peak
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: High estrogen and testosterone are sharpening your memory, thinking skills, verbal abilities and dexterity to cycle-long highs. But, that doesn’t mean you’re going to be flub-free today. That’s because these same hormones are making you super-speedy, so you may end up tripping over your tongue when talking too fast, having a brain freeze as you try to remember details because you’re trying to relay all your ideas too quickly, causing a mental log-jam, or pressing the wrong buttons on the ATM or your keyboard because you were in such a rush. So, if you can (and this is a difficult one for you, Week 2 gal), try to slow down just a tad and you’ll be even better at harnessing all those hormone-fueled brain and body superpowers.

Week 3
Day 15 (or the day after ovulation) to Day 22
Progesterone rises; estrogen and testosterone drop for half the week, then estrogen rises again
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: You may get a bit bummed once rising progesterone kicks in and saps that intense mental and physical energy you had in your Week 2. However, there are certain benefits to this Week 3 hormonal slowdown that are worth appreciating: Research shows this rise in progesterone makes you better able to concentrate on detail-work that was too hum-drum to capture your attention in your Week 2; you’re more likely to notice interesting things as you walk (like flowers or cool graffiti) since you’re not rushing past them so fast; and you’re better at making decisions since you’re not as overly optimistic as you were in Week 2 and you’re not yet pessimistic like you’ll be in Week 4, so you’re viewing issues in a more realistic light. See, there are lots of reasons to love your Week 3!

Week 4
Day 23 to the end of cycle
Estrogen and progesterone plunge
Today’s Hormone Horoscope: Make a point to treat yourself well today, say, by getting your favorite cookies or taking a 10-minute break to read a great book. Plunging estrogen in your premenstrual Week 4 is prone to putting you on edge or making you blue as it drags down levels of feel-good chemicals in the brain. And study after study shows that just a little self-love can trigger a temporary boost in those very chemicals, making you feel happier and lighter despite the hormonal plunge.
