02 Jan Banish premenstrual grumpiness by napping
Women bothered by premenstrual moodiness and anxiety felt cheerier, more relaxed, mentally sharper and more alert after taking a daily 30-minute afternoon nap during the week before their period than women who simply rested for the same amount of time, according to a study out of the University of Ottawa.
Research shows that nighttime sleep the week before menstruation is less restful, which makes you groggy and irritable during the day.
Tip: You’ll rest best when you take your nap between 1 pm and 4 pm, which is when your body hits a natural lull in energy.
